Icomm solution to pre-Christmas IT hangovers
It is estimated that a third of UK shoppers will overspend in the run up to Christmas. Now, Birmingham based IT service and support provider, Icomm Technologies, has taken the lead in helping local businesses control their spending with a solution aimed at curbing IT overspend.
IT health checks
In the absence of regular checks, systems and servers can crash, ultimately leading to loss of revenue. This can become more prevalent when staff are at home enjoying public holidays.
So, in a bid to assist businesses across the West Midlands, Icomm has developed Total Support Points (TSP) maintenance service, as a sure-fire way of sidestepping such an eventuality.

Antivirus software is either out of date or absent
Modelled on a ‘health check’ type schedule, TSP subscribers invest in a quarterly or monthly health check. Subscribers essentially buy into ‘blocks of time’ to utilise on an as and when basis. The solution is designed to locate undetected trouble spots that could lead to an unexpected and expensive repair bill. The solution overcomes a reactive crisis scenario that may cost data and money with urgent ‘one off’ call outs.
Icomm Technologies, Ian Callens, explains: “A familiar problem with SME’s not just in this area, but across the country, is the requirement for constant IT support and maintenance. System failures can ultimately result in a loss of business.
Research and consultation that we’ve carried out has highlighted what causes these failings - inadequate back up systems, back up not being configured correctly, or worse still, not actually running at all. We’ve also found that some antivirus software is either out of date or absent, and that UPS systems are missing or not configured for the automatic shutdown of systems.
Faster response times
“When you take out a TSP contract, you are assigned to a specific engineer, who will get to know your site, system and users. In short, they effectively become one of your team.
“We all know that the festive season means time out of the office for the vast majority of employees. So, if a system crashes on Christmas day, its highly unlikely anyone will be on hand to rectify it.
“This is where TSP’s strength lies. The response times are such that your allocated engineer can be notified when equipment requires attention and see that its rectified immediately”.
“Put simply, this provides a proactive IT support solution for SME’s that will increase spend visibility and ensure systems keep performing up to and through the Christmas period”.
