Highly secure and flexible multi-factor authentication
Tokenless PINsafe authentication is a two-factor authentication solution which has been awarded the CESG Claims Tested Mark (CCTM). CESG is the UK Government’s national technical authority for Information Assurance. The CCTM scheme provides a government quality mark for the public and private sectors based on accredited independent testing, designed to prove the validity of product functionality claims made by vendors. In more colloquial terms, CCTM is designed to assure public bodies and businesses that a product or service does ‘what it says on the box’.
PINsafe is a highly flexible and scalable system used by large global enterprises, public sector bodies and smaller businesses to confirm the identity of authorised IT users when they need to access their corporate network resources, particularly when outside the perimeter security shield.

PINsafe is designed to combat threats such as skimming, phishing, spyware, shoulder-surfing and key-logging and is considerably cheaper to implement and maintain than a token based authentication solution.
When the user wants to authenticate, they enter their PIN onto their mobile device and it displays the one-time code. Alternatively, in the SMS option, a security string can be sent to the user's registered mobile phone.
The advantages of not requiring a dedicated security token include:
- There are no token-associated costs
- There is nothing physically to distribute for provisioning and to reclaim for de-provision
- People treat their mobile phone as an essential piece of equipment; they are highly unlikely to be without it.
